Walk-in Aviaries
Walk-in Aviaries
What do you do if you find yourself in a large city and need a parrot "fix" and you are miles away from the rainforest?  One of the best things to do is visit a walk-in aviary.   You can find them almost anywhere in the world, sometimes part of a zoo or sometimes as a Bird Park.  They offer a chance to get up close and personal with the exotic birds and get photos without having bars or wire between you and the birds.

Most aviaries will have their own rules as to whether or not you can feed the birds.  In Australia, you can feed rainbow lorikeets with nectar prepared by the staff in the morning and late afternoon.  Be prepared to get pooped on and dress accordingly, bring a hat!

In this section, I will be presenting a selection of some of the best walk-in aviaries from around the world.  Check back for updates!
